The Festival Eyes Program trains volunteers to escort those with sight loss and other disabilities to some of the unique and popular local arts venues.

Arts festivals

The Central PA Festival of the Arts attracts over 100,000 people to downtown State College and the University Park Penn State Campus every July to celebrate the arts. Equally popular is the homegrown People's Choice Festival held in nearby Boalsburg the same summer weekend. Those with sight loss can still enjoy the festivities under the guidance of the trained guides of the Festival Eyes program of the Sight-Loss Support Group. To participate in the program (or to become a trained volunteer guide) simply Contact the SLSG to get involved.

Museum and Gallery Tours

At other times of the year, Festival Eyes guides, along with Audio Describers, schedule tours of local exhibits and museums. Some recent tours were held at the Robeson Gallery and Palmer Art Museum on the Penn State Campus, the Boal Mansion and Christopher Columbus Chapel in Boalsburg, PA, and the Centre Furnace Mansion in State College.
